Having been a competitive swimmer since he was 11, David competed with the Metairie YMCA, East Jefferson High School and Northeastern Louisiana University. He continued swimming competitively while serving in the US Navy and then in the US Masters. He held many individual records, some of which still stand.

For the past 48 years, David has been a swimming instructor for students of all ages. He is proud to have had a student make it to the Olympic trials in the 200 Fly. He also led his team to win Second Place in the state as Head Coach of Metairie Park Country Day Upper School.

David taught water survival for Delgado Maritime Fire and Industrial College and the oil and gas industry. He holds scuba certification as a Divemaster and Rescue Diver.

David finds it most rewarding to see his students’ confidence grow as they succeed. His most memorable accomplishment was teaching an 88-year-old woman whose lifelong dream was learning to swim.
